Verse 32 of Chapter 11 — The Vision of the Universal Form.
kālo'smi loka-kṣaya-kṛt pravṛddho lokān samāhartum iha pravṛttaḥ | ṛte'pi tvāṁ na bhaviṣyanti sarve ye'vasthitāḥ pratyanīkeṣu yodhāḥ ||
Sanskrit / Transliteration

TRANSLATION

I am Time, the great destroyer of worlds. I have come here to destroy all people. Even without your participation, all the warriors arrayed in the opposing armies will cease to exist.

EXPLANATION

The most terrifying verse in the Gita — spoken from within Krishna's universal form while Arjuna watches in dread. 'I am Time, destroyer of worlds' (kālo'smi loka-kṣaya-kṛt). The warriors on both sides are already dead — time has already decided. Arjuna is being told that his action or inaction doesn't determine their fate; it only determines whether he fulfills his dharma or not. This verse provides profound perspective: the forces you are working within are far larger than your choices. Your choices matter — but they don't control everything. Act rightly within what you can affect; release what you cannot.
