Bhagavad Gita · Chapter 6 · Verse 35
BG 6.35
Undoubtedly, the mind is restless and difficult to control. But it can be controlled by practice and non-attachment.
asaṃśayaṃ mahābāho mano durnigrahaṃ calaṃ | abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate ||
Sanskrit / Transliteration
TRANSLATION
Lord Krishna said: O mighty-armed son of Kunti, it is undoubtedly very difficult to curb the restless mind, but it is possible by suitable practice and by detachment.
EXPLANATION
Krishna acknowledges reality: the mind IS difficult to control. This is not a problem unique to you. But two tools always work: abhyasa (regular practice) and vairagya (non-attachment, releasing outcomes). These two together are the Gita's system for mental training.
