Bhagavad Gita · Chapter 2 · Verse 63
BG 2.63
From anger comes delusion; from delusion, loss of memory; from loss of memory, destruction of intelligence; and from destruction of intelligence, one falls down.
krodhād bhavati sammohaḥ sammohāt smṛtivibhramaḥ | smṛtibhraṃśād buddhinārśo buddhinārśāt praṇaśyati ||
Sanskrit / Transliteration
TRANSLATION
From anger, complete delusion arises, and from delusion, bewilderment of memory. When memory is bewildered, intelligence is lost, and when intelligence is lost one falls down again into the material pool.
EXPLANATION
Continuing the chain from 2.62: anger → delusion → memory loss → loss of intelligence → ruin. This is not mythology — it is accurate psychology. Anger corrupts thinking, corrupts memory of one's values, corrupts judgment, and leads to destructive action. The ancient cure: catch it at the attachment stage.
